On one of my recent trips to the junk store, I found a star that looked like this.

Well, not exactly like this, because this is Pottery Barn's version, but it was pretty close. The star was $7.99 and such a good deal that I didn't even pretend I knew what I was going to do with it, I just had to have it. It leaned up against the wall in the living room for a few months while I thought about what to do with it. I wasn't crazy about the color, but I just love the bold graphic shape of stars - and crosses - don't get me started on crosses. During a lunch visit to JoAnn Fabrics, inspiration struck! I found this stuff, and knew exactly what to do!

I sprayed the entire star with flat black spray paint and when it was dry, I used painter's tape and taped off 1/2 inch stripes starting at the middle of each point. I painted the exposed portions with the extreme glitter paint (in black) and this is what I ended up with.

I love it. I’m going to hang it above the fireplace. I think once I tear down the sheetrock and uncover the fabulous brick that I just know is hiding back there, it will look even better. The man thinks people aren’t going to “get it” I’m not sure what, exactly there is to get, but I love it and that’s really all that matters.

Yes, I have an unhealthy obsession with candles. I don’t care, I love them.
